Dear Reader - Replace Why With Funny (2009)

We're from Johannesburg, South Africa. We really love music. We love listening to it. We love playing it. We love recording it. We love arguing about it. It's pretty much all we do all day.

A couple of years ago, when I was just a shy little whipper-snapper, Darryl heard me singing some of my songs at a ramshackle get-together. After a year of nagging he eventually convinced me to make music my all-the-time activity. And I found out there's nothing else in the world I'd rather be doing.

In 2006 we recorded our first record together in Darryl's little studio and became Harris Tweed. We released 'The Younger' in South Africa and did all the cool stuff that goes along with that. Our two big highlights were opening for Jose Gonsales on his SA tour, and being one of the first South African bands to showcase at SxSw in Austin, Texas.

Earlier this year the Harris Tweed Authority in Scotland told us that we needed to get ourselves a new name. It was kind of like shedding your skin (if you're a snake!) or getting a drastic haircut... A new beginning. And it coincided with us finding a new sound as well.

Earlier this year we invited Brent Knopf of the most incredible Portland band, Menomena, to produce our new record with us. He took a leap and flew all the way out here to work in the studio with us for two and a half weeks. The results will see the light of day soon. After a long and complicated process, you have no idea how happy I am to say that the release is set for February 2009.
