Release Notes
This debut from Daniel Blackbelt Andersen arrives via Prins Thomas Full Pupp
imprint, and its an interesting alternate take on the Nordic disco sound,
situating modulating 303s (Sirup) and cushioned Detroit-influenced stabs
(Mamma) next to the more expected Moroder-influenced retro sounds of
Sondag, with its I Feel Love bassline and hand-played percussion. There are
luscious, more ambitious productions on here too, most notably the ten-minute
mid-tempo burner Kuk Av Stal, and the dense synthscape of November which
retains its disco credentials thanks to a swaggering beat and piercing
handclaps. Not quite as adventurous as Lindstroms Where You Go I Go Too album
from last year, but Andersens debut makes a valuable contribution to its genre
nonetheless.
