Other Lives - Other Lives (2009)

This is gorgeous, thoughtful, expansive music. Just don't confuse it with
"mopey." It's powerful stuff. Their understanding of both popular & classical
compositional techniques is staggering, especially for a group so young.
Jesse's voice recalls the best plaintive moments of greats like Thom Yorke &
David Bazan, but it's still a voice all his own. If I had to draw comparisons
musically, I'd liken it to "Parachutes" era Coldplay crashing fist first into
a Sigur Ros concert, which, after a moment of stunned silence, erupts into a
glorious celebration of all things beautiful. You would be remiss not to get
on board before these kids explode.
