The William Blakes - Dear Unknown Friend (2009)

1.3.09

The William Blakes are fearless. The band's three members have known each other since they were teenagers. They all play everything and they trust each other completely. Their debut album was recorded in 5 days in November 2007 and was released in Denmark in 2008 to rave reviews.

They took their name from the poet William Blake (1757 - 1827) because they share his desire for a spiritual upheaval. Their songs are about religion, magic and politics, but with a strangely personal twist.

The band's debut album "Wayne Coyne" is named after the Flaming Lips lead singer because he embodies both the hopeful energy of the music and the free spirited recording process, where every idea was used, no matter what. The three band members even agreed to not utter the word “no” at all during the recording of the album.

“Wayne Coyne” was recorded in a frenzy in an old wooden house in neighbouring country Sweden. It wasn’t until it was finished that the band realised what they had on their hands: A musical statement, a vision and an album with a unique sound.
The magic is in the mix.
